UP ERG and G-18 in Fierce Day High

Members of UP ERG and freshmen block G-18 joined the Centennial Opening Week’s Grand Parade last Monday, July 21, 2010. Clad in orange shirts, representative students of engineering organizations and the freshmen walked around the academic oval behind in line of the festive marching band.

Engineering students celebrate Opening Week
The parade started 9:00 am and ended at around 10:30 am with the symbolic release of balloons in the Melchor Hall steps. Afterwards, all students were directed to the Film Institute for a brief program. Dr. Rowena Christina Guevara, the college dean and an alumnus of UP ERG, challenged the centennial freshies to uphold excellence. Performances from the UP Pep Squad, UP Repertory, UP Samaskom and Faculty Follies entertained everyone in the hall. Free lunch was provided to the freshies.

The department seminar of the EEE Institute for the freshmen followed immediately at one in the afternoon. An overview of topics and studies in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering were discussed. The danzERGs also performed an intermission number and UP ERG’s org ID was launched.
